PUB
MED:
Topics
discussed
here
are
for
the
public
to
better
understand
everyday
health
issues.
If
in
doubt
they
should
seek
advice
or
treatment
from
a
health
professional.
The
articles
should
help
discuss
their
symptoms with the doctor.
Silent
Heart
Attack:
There
are
many
who
suffer
from
ischemic
episodes
without
realising
it
as
they
do
not
have
symptoms
normally
attributed
to
angina.
They
may
also
suffer
a
heart
attack
with
no
warning.
It
is
said
that
"silent"
(asymptomatic)
myocardial
ischemia
is
the
most
common
manifestation
of
coronary
heart
disease
(CHD),
accounting
for
more
than
75
percent
of
ischemic
episodes during life.
Stroke:
Did
you
know
that
Asians
are
twice
as
likely
to
have
a
stroke
compared
to
the
Europeans?
Recovery
from
a
stroke
differs
from
person
to
person
and
no
two
strokes
are
the
same.
It
is
also
the
second
leading
cause
of
death
world
wide
with
over
6
million
people
dying
every
year.
The
quicker
the
symptoms
are
recognised
and treatment started better the recovery?
Hypertension
during
Pregnancy:
Blood
Pressure
is
normally
checked
regularly
during
pregnancy.
Increased
blood
pressure
dring
pregnany
can
lead
to
Preeclampsia,
a
condition
that
can
occur
during
the
second
half
of
pregnancy.
It
occurs
in
2
to
6%
of
all
pregnancies.
If
untreated
will
lead
to
Eclampsia
causing
fits,
kidney
damage,
stroke
and
maternal
death.
It
can also cause premature separation of placenta from uterus leading to foetal distress.
